garden house

I was ask to design the interior of a apartment in the emblematic building of La Casa Bloc Barcelona. The work carried out here involves the creation of an interior architecture adapted to a very particular user previously inter- viewed and analyzed. The Garden House is a duplex designed for Amanda Barba, a young girl passionate about botany and gardening.
The main characteristic of this duplex is the absence of conventional limits (walls, floors ...). It is a diaphanous space in which the floor and walls are horizontal and vertical cultivation areas. The private areas are located in suspended transparent greenhouses that let in natural light.
Natural light is essential for the survival of the plantations, which is why the house has large openings in the ceiling. Thew main rooms of the house have transparent walls.
The principal furniture in the living room is the table. That table has a par- ticularity to be mixed to the stairs. The central table has two benches con- nected to the stairs provoking a continuity between the spaces. The house is based on three different materials: wood, glass and plants. Glass is a material on the one hand necessary to light up the garden, and on the other and very characteristic of greenhouses. Wood also has a direct relationship with plants as it is an organic material, this gives harmony to the garden. The predomi- nant colors are natural colors of the materials. But the green and brown are the main colors of the garden so of the whole house.
